Effective July 8, 2010, I have withdrawn from the Arizona CD8 race against Gabrielle Giffords. I have given my endorsement and support to fellow conservative Jesse Kelly. I believe he represents the best chance to defeat Gabrielle Giffords and I encourage all of my wonderful supporters to do the same. It has been my honor and pleasure to run for this office and all those who supported me made it worthwhile. I cannot thank you enough for all you have done for me. Let's get Jesse elected and begin to restore what is good and right about America. Get out and vote in the primary on Aug 24th and in the general on Nov 2nd.
I believe the strength of America is Americans, not our government. America has been successful because we embrace competition and free markets. Our Congress is spending money like they have a magic credit card with no limit. The bailouts, the unprecedented borrowing from China and others, the out of control spending and the unnecessary intrusion into Corporate America by our government must end. Our current tax code is over 9 million words and rising. It must be simplified and taxes on our hard earned income lowered and flattened. Our corporations suffer under the second highest corporate tax rate in the world. We have to bring businesses that have fled this Draconian tax code for Ireland and other places with better tax laws back to America. We have to incent the businesses we have to be successful and we can do that by slashing corporate taxes.America has the highest quality health care in the world. We are the most innovative and we spend the most in developing new medicines. We should not be subjected to a single-payer or universal coverage system. Health care should involve choice of coverage and doctors and the ability to purchase coverage across state lines. Frivolous lawsuits drive up costs for everyone. We must have Tort reform.
We must become energy independent. We have the resources to do that and we must exploit those along with exploring solar and wind technology. America already has producing oil wells off its shores. They must be uncapped and utilized. We shouldn't be hostages of OPEC. We should be drilling for our own oil. Oil alone is not the answer. We need more refineries. These are job creators and will contribute to our energy independence.
Our porous border with Mexico has seen escalating violence and corruption. Sanctuary cities ignore the law. Our laws must be enforced and our rules of engagement updated. Amnesty should not be an option. We need more Border Patrol, DEA agents and ICE agents.
You deserve someone that has YOU in mind. You deserve leadership that is not beholden to lobbyists or special interest groups. You deserve honesty, integrity and accountability. I've owned and run a small retail business, I've worked in the financial and mortgage sectors. I've served in the military. I know how to live within my means and I believe our government should live within its means. You deserve someone who appreciates the liberty and freedoms we enjoy that have come from the sacrifice of our nation's finest. You deserve someone who has defended those freedoms and will continue to defend those freedoms. You deserve someone who will not be corrupted by the system and ignore your voice.
