Meet Chauncey

Chauncey grew up in Southwest Florida in a politically-aware household and learned the true meaning of public service from his father, Porter Goss. For nearly the past decade, Chauncey has been working on the front lines of fiscal responsibility. First as a national security analyst for the President’s Office of Management and Budget and then as the head numbers cruncher and Deputy Staff Director for Paul Ryan’s House Budget Committee.

As a result, Chauncey understands better than most the tidal wave of debt looming in the very near future and recognizes it will take more than a sound bite or a bumper sticker to alter our fiscal path. Chauncey believes true leadership, hard work, and an honest discussion with America as the only responsible way forward.

Prior to working in DC, Chauncey worked in Southwest Florida as the Executive Director of a non-profit organization which taught him the importance of handling other people’s money with respect and allowed him to make sure that expenditures were made efficiently and effectively. This was a far cry from what he found when he began working with the federal budget.

During the 1990‘s he had the opportunity to serve on many boards and committees designed to increase citizen participation in the public policy arena. Among others, he served on the Lee County Historic Preservation Board, the Lee County Coastal Advisory Council, the Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation Board, and the Board of the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation. He is also a graduate of Leadership Lee County.

Chauncey received a Masters in Public Policy from Georgetown University and BA from Rollins College. He currently lives on Sanibel with his wife, Allison, and his three sons.

He is managing director of Goss Practical Solutions, a firm he founded that provides economic and fiscal policy analysis to help businesses address the economic policies emanating from Washington, DC.
